Take Your Medicine
You’ve never said “No” to drugs before, and you’re not about to start now. Like a more daring Neo from the Matrix, you down all the pills dry. “Boom! Outta here,” you say, proudly opening your mouth to the orderly. “Good job Mrs. Regina,” he says patting you on the head. “Now you can have your pudding. Why don’t you go sit down?”
You’re starting to feel pretty good. So good that you decide to go sit down and wait for pudding. There’s an empty seat at the arts and crafts table – a nice spot to await a squishy dessert. Decades later, surrounded by thousands of cut paper snowflakes, you think back on all the days spent in a drug-and-pudding induced coma. A final smile plays across your lips; you regret nothing as you pass from this life into the next.
